  • Master’s degree in Marine Engineering from the University of Cantabria, Spain.
  • Chief Engineer license, Motor & Steam, unlimited.

Was in charge of the Tankers Fleet for one year and then took a Project Supervisor role for a Newbuilding Project consisting of 30 MR crude oil/chemical tankers.

  • Supervised model tests and ensured that Sea Trials were conducted in accordance with the latest optimised procedures (STA-JIP).
  • Analysed M.E. design parameters for the new buildings and found problems related to T/C set up in the process, which affected SFOC. Liaised with manufacturers and eventually got the T/C set up rectified.
  • Improved Shop Test procedures by ensuring accuracy of data collection (identified problems with the water brake used for power calculation).
  • Prepared comprehensive excel program for comparison of ship consumptions and performance.

Managed vessels of various types (LPGs, DFDE LNGs, conventional LNGs and Oil tankers).

  • Identified and found solutions for a number of technical issues affecting LPG cargo equipment, Main Engine CLO lubrication and performance monitoring.
  • Satisfactorily completed a number of dry-docking projects (often with circa $4M budgets). Prepared and supervised a major longevity refit project for an LNG carrier (circa $30M project).
  • Was ready to accept challenges when solutions were required, preventing huge commercial loss.
  • Was involved in the LSFO project required for compliance with EU LS directive and found solution for pump cavitation problems related to mixing column design issues.
